TDWI Operational Data Quality Checklist Report
TDWI Operational Data Quality Checklist Report
Posted by:Steve | Tue 22 June 2010

A new checklist report from The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) outlines 7 recommendations for improving Operational Data Quality in the enterprise:

"...operational data tends to flow from one system to another as part of a multi-step workflow or data synchronization process, such that the low quality of data proliferates and drags down the efficiency and quality of business operations. But it doesn’t have to be that way..."

The foreword includes some great definitions of relevant terms like Operational Data and OpDQ. Also covered are data profiling and data discovery, handling international data, collaboration and data governance.

Companies may find this overview useful to help them get organized before beginning a new project or to identify goals and areas of improvement for current projects.

You can find the report by Philip Russom available for download at the TDWI website.
